Hi! My name is Danielle. I earned my Ph.D. in the department of philosophy at the University of California at Davis in the Spring of 2023.
My research is primarily within philosophy of science. I wrote my dissertation on theories of physical computation which often influences my work in the cognitive sciences (especially Neuroscience and AI which rely on computational models to describe and explain cognitive phenomena).
I am currently a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Modeling Interdisciplinary Inquiry at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU). As an interdisciplinary postdoc I split my time between the philosophy department and the psych and neuro departments. My interdisciplinary mentor at WashU is Jeff Zacks of the Dynamic Cognition Laboratory in the Psychological & Brain Sciences Department. The Dynamic Cognition Lab works in two main areas: how we perceive and represent temporal structure in everyday activity and how we process spatial relationships between the body and external objects. Research methods combine behavioral experimentation, eye-tracking, functional neuroimaging studies, and information technology design.
I am a founding and organizing member of the Society for Philosophy & Neuroscience (SPAN). We will hold our first meeting in early May 2024.
